Google Ads clicks but no phone calls? What to investigate
Before increasing an advertising budget, examine search intent, landing pages, call handling and conversion tracking.

Inspect the searches that trigger your ads
Where account permissions allow, review search terms and targeting. Broad or ambiguous searches can attract people who are researching rather than ready to buy. Exclusions should reflect real business fit, not guesswork.
Compare the ad promise with the landing page
A person clicking an ad for one service should land on a page about that service. Confirm the offer, location and next action are consistent. Sending every ad to a generic homepage often adds unnecessary friction.
Test the phone and form experience
Place a test call during advertised business hours and submit a test form. Check call routing, missed-call handling, mobile click-to-call links and whether someone responds promptly.
Audit the conversion definition
A call-button tap is not necessarily a connected call, and a form start is not a submission. Review conversion actions, duplicate counting and attribution windows before interpreting reported leads.
Review economics with the right context
Clicks and impressions do not reveal profitability on their own. Evaluate qualified inquiries and customer outcomes using information you can substantiate, without exposing private client financials.
Make controlled changes
Change one meaningful variable at a time where practical, document the hypothesis and allow enough evidence to accumulate. Avoid repeatedly resetting campaigns based on a single day's results.
